Path of Exile Dual Flame Totem Build Guide

As a Path of Exile beginner, you may have played with a melee character, and then perhaps a ranged combat character. The logical next step after those is a caster, but that is when a lot of casual players become apprehensive as magic characters usually have a lot less health to balance out the tremendous offensive capabilities. This is something that need not be tough as playing casters can definitely make your gameplay experience much richer. You can start by playing this Dual Flame Totem build that is built for the Witch, Templar, and even Marauder.

This build is a great way for beginners to learn more about playing casters in Path of Exile due to needing less currency to invest relative to its strength compared to other builds. Flame Totems require nothing more than 4-link Path of Exile items to start racking up on the damage, although it still helps to have 5 and 6-linked items if you can actually find any along the way. However, if you are a veteran player who has never played this build before, fear not as it is also suited for the more experienced; it's challenging and engaging enough to suit your discerning gameplay tastes.

If you like lots of fire and totems that do the work for you, then you will certainly like this build. It is viable for both softcore and hardcore play as it is one of those simple but elegant builds that combine power with easy-to-understand design. It is one of those balanced builds that combines tons of damage with a high level of survivability with lots of health, armor endurance charges, life regeneration, and a defensive Cast When Damage Taken gem setup, which should help with those frantic mobs of enemies that tend to overwhelm the unprepared and the unexperienced.

Of course, Blood Magic is used in this build to a high degree thanks to the deep health pool. For your primary active skill, it is Flame Totem linked with Faster Casting, Fire Penetration, Faster Projectiles, Added Chaos Damage, and Iron Will. The first three support gems are the most crucial ones, with the other two being there just to take it a bit further. You can have another 4-link with Flammability, Vaal Haste, Herald of Thunder, and Increased Duration for added damage and utility.

Everything else you have should lean more towards defense, namely Enduring Cry, Cast When Damage Taken, Immortal Call, and Increased Duration. You would want to level Cast When Damage Taken quite a bit, so get one as soon as you can. If you want to be a boss hunter, you will need Flame Totem, Culling Strike, and Increased PoE Items Rarity. This Culling Totem kills bosses faster by casting it when the boss has low life, while the Increased Item Rarity lets you get better loot.

Once you understand what you have to go for, you may find this build to be a joy to play and level. While you can argue that there are more spectacular builds in Path of Exile, few are as casual friendly and yet so good as this one. It's like the people's caster build in the game, and that is definitely a good thing.
