At long last, the time has been set. After a good bit of excitement and speculation since its announcement, the upcoming expansion of Diablo 3 now has a definite release date. On March 25, Reaper of Souls will be out to great anticipation and scrutiny. There have been lots of discussions in the community about how it will change the game for the better and how it can get people to playing the game again. Whether you have been playing since the release on the PC, or someone who just picked up the console version, you will find Reaper of Souls to be interesting.
These changes will be preceded by the removal of the Auction House, which once again puts emphasis on farming loot as the main focus of the gameplay, and Reaper of Souls will then follow it up with more features to make the loot more useful and interesting to all kinds of players. For instance, Loot 2.0 has already been making changes to how players get Diablo 3 items. By the time Reaper of Souls gets released, you can do more with those items like tranmogrification and so on. While it does not make every item dropped into godly loot, but it does increase the chance of getting some and helps players be more motivated to farm.
Of course, there's the new setting of Westmarch with new enemies to fight, including Malthael, the Archangel of Death. You also get the new character class, the Crusader, as well as new items to check out. There are also the Mystic, the new artisan NPC who lets you transmogrify items and so on. There is also additional content courtesy of the Adventure Mode, featuring Bounties and the Nephalem Rifts. This will go on top of the changes that Blizzard has already been implementing to make the game better than ever.
Aside from the gameplay changes and additions, you also get other stuff from your purchase of Reaper of Souls. There are a lot of stuff included like Spectral Hound Minion and Transmogrified Gear, as well as bonus portraits and decals for StarCraft 2, Treasure Goblin Pet for World of Warcraft, and so on if you pre-purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition. As for the Collector's Edition, you can get some premium collectible items like a Malthael mouse pad, hardback Collector's Edition art book full of concept artwork for the game, and a two-disc behind-the-scenes Blu-Ray/DVD set with exclusive interviews and insider footage. That's great if you're a big fan of the Diablo franchise and Blizzard in general.
You can now pre-purchase Reaper of Souls through Battle.net, which then lets you download an encrypted version of the client prior to release. Once March 25 comes around, the expansion content will be unlocked and you can get into the game right away without having to wait for installation or download on that date. If you do wish to wait though, you can get either a digital version or the retail version, whichever is to your liking.
